Autobio Comics Class This Summer (for grown ups)

Last summer, Greg Stump and I taught an autobio comics class at the Richard Hugo House, and it turned out to be a lot of fun.  We're going to try and teach an even better class this year.  Here's the skinny:

Comics & Autobiography

There are half a million stories in the rainy city; why not make yours into a comic book? Comics just make memoir better, whether it’s a crazy job story, a dysfunctional childhood, a road trip adventure or a secret life fighting crime in a colorful costume. Two experienced professionals will guide you through the basics of telling your story with words and pictures. We’ll examine what’s been done with autobio in the medium, and work on projects that will lead to the creation of a self-published, autobiographical mini-comic. Writer/artists from all backgrounds and levels of ability are welcome.

Greg Stump's debut graphic novel

Greg Stump, who is one half of the famous creative team that created "Urban Hipster" comics (I am the other half) has been toiling for years on a graphic novel, and is finally done.  The result, Disillusioned Illusions, is one of the cleverest and funniest graphic novels I've ever read.  I would describe it as being like one of Samuel Beckett's classic plays, but without all the seriousness.

Currently, this book can only be obtained by contacting Greg himself.  His email address is gstump7 (at) YAHOO (dot) com.
